Hoops and an "Ooops" . . .

Good morning , hope you had a fabulous weekend, and I hope it's shaping up to be a fine & lovely Monday for you too.
I'm feeling sooo much better - thanks for all your get well wishes  - but unfortunately the Hubby has been struck down now, so this horrible lurgy continues to linger chez nous.

But enough about that . . .

 We had a relaxing weekend, just mooching around & about and catching up with things, and I had lots of fun practising some freehand machine embroidery, creating some hoop art.  Ok, so perhaps the word "art" is stretching it a wee bit, but it really was such fun and I'm very chuffed with how they turned out  : - )

my very first attempt

the Hubby says it looks like "whenever" but that works too methinks !
a tiny wee one to complete the trio

 Ever since I had the privilege of popping into Purl Soho when in NYC last year, where they had a wall full of beautiful fabrics displayed in hoops {pop over to their website for a wee peek}, I've wanted to emulate the look in some form or another at home.  The next stage in my quest was to acquire one of Poppy Treffry's lovely books - "Freehand Machine Embroidery"- an excellent source of learning and inspiration. And so, I put foot to the pedal and off I went . . .

Oh dear, I think I may be hooked {she says whilst flicking through her diary wondering when in the week she can get to Hobbycraft to buy more hoops}

And the Ooops ?

. . . whever ?, whever ? Yes, I have to admit, I had sewn over it three times already before I realised . . .   Oooops . . .  but it did give us a good giggle, especially seeing as I am a self-confessed stickler when it comes to spelling.

And I'm not the only one who's been playing at this - do pop over to Amy's Crafty Shenanigans and see what Amy's been up to too.
It's catchy . . .

'til next time,
xoxo

  3. I loved jumping thru your hoops! So fun. I have one very large hoop over the bed in my guest room. I sewed fabric scraps, from the bed quilt I made, hooped them. Thanks for a great start to my week!

  5. These are so cute ... especially like the little love birds. You could do some of the fancy fabric hoops (no embroidery) and add them to your trio on the wall ... little dots of colour. They look great as just a trio too :) Wendy
