Leaving on a jet plane . . .

Well actually my bags are still waiting to be packed and I'm not nearly as organized as I should be but I've been running around all week trying to get things ticked off my "To do-before-I-go" List and I really didn't want to leave without saying goodbye.  I'll be taking a wee bloggy break whilst enjoying the  (hopefully, because I will be most disappointed if it's not)  sunshine of the beautiful Caribbean islands.

I shall not be completely idle on the crafty front though, because you know I always have to have a holiday project on the go too.  Time spent hanging around airports and on long-haul flights just seems so much more tolerable when one's hands and mind are happy, don't you think ?

 

So my little knitting bag (don't you just love those cute wee sheeps?) is brimming with yarny goodness and I can't wait to make a start.

I promise to show & tell when I get back, but in the meantime I'll leave you with an update on the Shari's Chevron Blankie project:  I am so loving this pattern.

I haven't managed to do as much blog reading as I'd have liked to lately, but I do hope that things will be calmer on my return and I'm looking forward to catching up with you then.

Rain, rain go away . . .

And yet again,
another week has flown past since my last post . . .

Where did it go ? 
Washed away with all this rain perhaps methinks ?

 My heart goes out to those of you whose homes and days are being turned upside down by the flooding and the storms. Over the past couple of days we've had lashings of rain, blustery winds, hail, sleet, and a dusting of snow. 

 And in between all that - pretty blue skies and crispy sunshine.  A real mixed bag of weather, but the upside is that it's just perfect for staying cosy and crafting.

So, amidst the usual activities of the week, here's what I've been making . . .

a simple cotton summer skirt 

with a pretty cotton lace trimmed hem.

It was easy to make, fits just perfectly and I'm so happy with how it turned out, that I've started another one.
 I've had this fabric in my stash for ages and to be honest I'd gone off it a wee bit, but now I love it again and can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear it.

And it's "third time lucky" for this chevron blankie that's currently on my hook.

 I started it a wee while ago, but 20 rows in, I realised I'd made a mistake way back at the beginning

 - aaarghh - 

so I (albeit reluctantly) frogged it and began again. 

 Only to discover a few rows later that I'd done exactly the same thing again . . .  (clearly not the brightest crayon in the box, I hear you say . . .)

So out it all had to come yet again, and finally now I think I've got it right and it's starting to take shape properly.
  YAY  : - )  (happy/relieved face)

It's pointless to resist . . .

Right, so you know how sometimes you're happily catching up on a wee bit of blog reading, merrily hopping around in Blogland, marvelling at all the wonderfully talented peeps in this world of ours and gathering inspiration as you go ?  

And then something pretty just pops out at you and you just HAVE to make/bake/knit/crochet/sew that too ?

You know what I mean, don't you ?

So earlier this week I was doing just that, and right there on Shari's lovely blog, The Stitch Pattern, was not one, but indeed two oh-so-pretty makes that just jumped out and cried "make me, make me"

How could I possibly resist ?

First up was a lovely crocheted chevron blankie - pop over here for the link to the pattern if you like.

Now a little while ago, I decided it was time to update our sofa cushions and after much thought, I decided to go with a plummy shade and picked out three lovely fabrics.  I still haven't got around to actually making the new cushions yet, but I will . . . soon . . . I promise.
 But when I saw Shari's blankie, it occurred to me how perfect it would be for the sofa too.  So I promptly chose some pretty cotton yarn, bookmarked the pattern and added "Crochet chevron blankie" to my To Make list :-)

 And then the very next post, Shari showed us (and again kindly shared the pattern) the cutest crocheted pot-holders.  And yet again, I was powerless to resist.

So I delved into my stash, retrieved this Drops Paris cotton and promptly began to hook.

Thanks lovely Shari for sharing your pretty makes, and if The Hubby has any questions
regarding the slight overspend (oops. . .) on the yarny budget this month,
I shall have to refer him straight to you ; - )

And lest you think I'm just flitting whimsily from one project to another, I'm happy to assure you that Daisy Duke is very nearly complete . . .

. . . just needs to be blocked and the arm edgings to do, then voila, I'm ready for Summer . . .
