I know, I know . . . I really should try my hand at something different but I can't promise that I'll stop at number three*, because I do sooo love this pattern and I'm a firm believer in "if you like something and it works for you - go for it"
Plus there are three versions on one pattern, so it'd be wrong to not at least try out all three, don't you think ?
So, without further ado - I present
my newest Kate dress . . .
my newest Kate dress . . .
I had this fabric in my stash and it was earmarked for a skirt, but it's a gal's prerogative to change her mind, isn't it ? And so my little bundle of Rapture (from Art Gallery Fabrics) became another Kate.
And I'm just loving this pretty cotton lace trim from Pretty Fabrics & Trims. If you haven't yet discovered their fab online shop, do pop over here and have a drool at all their pretty fabrics & trims (their name really does say it all). Their customer service is top notch too and I love the little handwritten notes that always accompany my orders. Thank you Sarah & Penny : - )
So the painters are still around and slowly but surely decorating their way through the house but at least I've been able to reclaim my craft space. So next on the list is to finish my Juliet dress another lovely pattern designed by the talented Jules) which I started a few weeks ago but then got stuck.
But taking a Dressmaking Master Class on Zips earlier this week has alleviated my fear of concealed zips, so I hope to get that finished sometime soon.
Oooh, and I did spend an indulgent day working on my latest quilty project, but that's a whole other blog post : - )

Wishing you a fabulous & sunny weekend,
'til next time

*no. 1 & 2 here in case you missed them
Wow, I am so impressed, the fabric is delightful and the trim is just adorable. Wishing you a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Gilly, Your blog is lovely and so inspiring! What pretty fabrics you use-the dress is gorgeous. Ben and Jerry are gorgeous too-our black lab Bonnie would love them! Best wishes Alison (Farmhouse Traditions) xx
ReplyDeleteThree, four.....ten dresses, who's counting. A girl can make as many as she would like! The fabric is so cute, love it and the trim is so fitting for the dress.
ReplyDeleteGo you!
Birgitta xx
Lovely
ReplyDeleteThe dress is perfect, why mess with perfect? Plus this way you get more money from your pattern, remember I have made five skirts from the same pattern, with two more on the way as soon as my machine gets fixed.
ReplyDeleteHow about number four?
Meredith
Another lovely dress, Gilly. Like you, I believe in getting my money's worth out of a pattern. The more you make, the cheaper the pattern works out at per dress. Hope you have a good weekend. :o)
ReplyDeleteAh it's so sweet Gilly and I love your fabric and trims once again! Sarah really tempts me with every fabric post she does! We have a saying over here (it came from a fly spray ad many years ago!), "when you're on a good thing stick to it", and I see no reason for you to stop at number three - do you? I must say though, I haven't got around to number one yet cause I have to clear the decks of a few back projects that were crying out to be done .. .. .. You've done such a lovely job of this once again, even with decorators in the house (I wouldn't be able to settle to anything!) and I'm looking forward to seeing Juliet too! Happy weekend to you lovely! Love, Joy xo
ReplyDeleteLove it! The print, the detail trim, and cut, the cardi over it--it all works! And yes, if something works, keep on with it, totally agree on that. I'm off to google the pattern now, thanks for sharing. XX Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric you have used Gilly. Your dress is gorgeous (as was #1 and #2)!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing quite like a home made garment that you love. I can see this one is no exception and when teamed with the gorgeous cardi...well you have a splendid outfit. Enjoy the wearing.
ReplyDeleteAnne xx
Such a cute and versatile dress! I love the shade of bluey-green for the trim, it looks vintage and adds a really nice bit of charm to the dress. The sweater is gorgeous too! Wendy x
ReplyDeleteSew pretty . . . can not wait to see number three :)
ReplyDeleteWell won't you be the best dressed gal about town. I am drooling over your rapture fabric dress....'tis so pretty and looks perfect with your cardi.
ReplyDeleteOh Gilly it's gorgeous, love the fabric SOOOOO much!! Thanks also for your lovely comments and for sharing my blog and website, you are a sweetie!!!!! Have a great weekend, Sarah xo
ReplyDeleteGilly, another gorgeous Kate. As the others have said, the fabric, the trim, the cardi... Gorgeous. Off to look at the fabric and trim shop. I have a dress I´ve made that I know needs a bit of trim. X
ReplyDeleteI do like this dress and the fabric is gorgeous Gilly. Your cardi goes perfectly with it. x
ReplyDeleteLove it! It looks really pretty, hope the weather improves so that it can be shown off lots and lots!
ReplyDeleteGilly you are too talented - do you mind stopping for a bit until I can at least put the hem on my dress that I started weeeeeeks ago so that I can catch up a bit??? It's GORGEOUS! I do keep looking over at the pattern and thinking hmmm, and then weeeellllll, but I know I MUST FINISH OTHER THINGS FIRST! How you're managing to get all this done with the painters in is a marvel - do you own some dressmaking elves ( if so can I please hire them at a rate of one cup of tea and a a biscuit (coated) per hour?) Jane x
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty! I especially love the lace trim. It looks really nice with that cardigan, perfect colors together!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so lovely, it just sings summertime! Wonderful lace trim - I've ordered my fair share from Sarah as well, I'm just addicted to her shop! You have such creativity and talent! Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteThere's also another saying - I can't remember who said it - "If you find something you like, stick with it, and buy at least three" Maybe you should change the wording to "and make at least three" :-)
ReplyDeleteYour dress, like the others, is lovely! I can see why you've become addicted to this pattern :-)
Happy Sunday!
Sarah xx
It's so pretty, I love the fabric, I also very much like the cardigan you've matched it with. Deb x
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with making more than one of something if you really enjoy making it and enjoy the finished item whatever it may be. Anyway, I am sure that clothes don't count as being the same as you use different fabrics/trims and so on and wear them with different things, so they are all unique! Your new Kate is lovely! xx
ReplyDeleteI Gilly, I love your Kate dresses. They are all so pretty.
ReplyDeleteGlad your home is slowly getting back to normal.
Jacquie x
I love it ! The colours are so summery :)
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your blog whilst bloghopping (such a great word), love all your pictures, and your bloggy meetup looked like fun :)
Jillxo
ultra cute and sweet. Love the trim!
ReplyDeleteI love the little blue one, and it looks so cute with the scarf and leggin's . . . it's my favorite. These little dresses are not only adorable, but they look so very comfortable, too. Thanks for following my blog. I am now your newest follower, too :) Have a happy week.
ReplyDeleteConnie :)
Lovely dress and such pretty fabric and trim. How clever you are, you'll have a whole new wardrobe soon!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric and the lace trim, I don't think I would be that brave to chose a blue lace trim but it looks beautiful so I must be braver with my choices. Have you thought of making the dress as a top?
ReplyDeleteYou go for it gal! I love the cardigan too. x
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and I ADORE this dress. Kate is on my 'to make' list and this has inspired me further! AMAZING x
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel - thanks for popping in to say hello and for your sweet comment too :-)
DeleteHave a happy day,
xx
woohoooooo I love yours this is the bestest one yet....such style...I have made one but made it far too big so altered it and happy now....planning number 2 and might copy your lace idea...inspiring as ever Gilly!
ReplyDeletebestest daisy j xxx
OOh, can't wait to see yours too. The pattern is a bit on the generous side size-wise, the finished garment size is a good indication but I had to alter my first one too. Fun & easy to make though, isn't it?

Your dress is lovely and I do love that fabric...oh no...don't stop at three! :-)
