I've been . . .

  • sewing

. . . putting the finishing touches to my new "vintage" dress

I'm so chuffed with how it turned out and even if I say so myself, it looks way better on than it does on the hanger . . . . but it's just way too cold right now to put it on and have my pic taken : - )
Picture it teamed with a little cardi, a narrow belt and a pair of summer flats.
And at the weekend I bought more fabric (navy blue with large cream dots) to make another one.

  •  knitting
a fabulously fun flower yarn into a soft & snuggly cowl

 a gift for a friend.

&

(yet another) pair of cabled fingerless mitts

These are so super-duper-easy to knit and a great way to use up your yarn stash.

  •  tidying
 my little craft room

to make a space on the table for my new toy

a wonderful anniversary gift from my lovely Hubby.
I did a little "Getting to know your Overlocker" workshop last Saturday, and I'm reading the instruction manual, so can't wait to start using it.

  • staying indoors
cuddling the pups

and watching the "Spring" snow fall.

One minute the sun's shining and the sky is blue, and the next minute it clouds over and a blizzard arrives.
Seriously- what's that all about ? Although the locals keep telling me, it's not that uncommon to have snow here in April too.

So, besides the icy cold east wind and the general weather conditions, this is shaping up to be a fun crafty week . . . and it's only Tuesday : - )

 'til next time,
stay warm and be happy
xoxo

    1. Thanks Jane - yes I did a workshop at Sew Me Something in Stratford-upon-Avon and we were measured, then had the pattern cut for us. It was designed I think by Jules who owns SMS.

The yarn is called Flower uni, by Four Seasons Gruendl. I bought it at a craft show in Malvern - their website is: www.knitncaboodle.co.uk.
They have some lovely other colours too.
      Happy Wednesday xx

I have an overlocker too. It's still in the box though. I think I'm a bit afraid of it. Guess I need to take a class like you did. Have fun with your sewing!

  19. Love the dress, Gilly :) and I'm so excited that you've got an overlocker too... and it's the same make as mine, so maybe we can share some tips. I have to say I have a love-hate relationship with mine. When all goes well, it's great, when it doesn't, I've been close to throwing it through the window. I think Mr. Nutt is fed up of me coming in to the shop with mine asking for a bit of help!

  23. Your dress looks so beautiful Gilly!! Okay, I bought a similar overlocker, and I can't figure out the correct tension! So, it has been sitting waiting patiently for me to take the time to figure it out. Let me know if you have any good tricks, because I would love to know! Have a great day! xo Heather

    1. Thanks Heather :-) It helped me to do the overlocker workshop - previously I've been terrified of them! I've got the tension set on 3 for all four of the threads. At the workshop we had to thread them with 4 different colour threads which made it easy to see what each one did and then we could adjust the tension of each accordingly. Does that make sense? If not - try 3 as a start ;-)
      Happy Wednesday to you too,
