The Craft Morning

Last week I hosted the inaugural (organized) get-together of some of my craft-loving friends.  We need to think of a more creative and innovative name to call ourselves, but 'til then we'll just refer to it as The Craft Morning.

The idea was that everyone would "come along and bring whatever you're working on at the moment, or just come along ".  This being yuletide and all, it felt right to greet the frosty day with a glass of hot, homemade-by-Heather, spicy mulled wine - a fabulous indulgence at 10am in the morning ; - )

And so we whiled away the next few hours with lots of nattering and some Christmassy making.

There was knitting,
there was painting,
there was wreath-making,
- and a fun "masterclass" in making patchwork & button baubles.

Kate's creation. . .

Heather (she of mulled-wine-making fame) also arrived with this oh-so-cute doorstop that she'd made for me - isn't it just the sweetest Christmas pud doorstop you ever did see ?

Of course, we needed something substantial to soak up the mulled wine, so mid-morning, on went the kettle and out came the cupcakes.

All in all, a most fun way to spend a day . . .

A big welcome to my new followers & blog-hoppers, - thanks for popping in, I hope you enjoy your visit : - )

  2. What a fun day! I really like the button balls. Years ago, I made balls by pinning on tufts of one-inch fabric squares. These look easier and so fun.

  4. Love the doorstop! How are those little fabric balls made? They look fantastic. Are they ornaments for hanging on the tree?

    1. Thanks, it is so fab isn't it. The fabric baubles are for the tree, and they're pretty simple to make. Will either have to do a tutorial, or just show you next time we meet!

  12. What fun, and your doorstop is delightful.

I used to be part of a similar group, which ended up known as the Terrors after one members young son described us all as the crafterrors in a 'this way' sign he crafted for his Mum's front door when she hosted a meeting.

I miss that group when I stop to think about it, but sadly we moved away. Now I have my knit and natter chums but we meet in a yarn shop and somehow it's not the same.
