We had a lovely quiet weekend here - just the two of us (or four, if you count the Ben & Jerry dogs). So, we went out for breakfast, enjoyed walking in the sunshine on the Clent hills, did some gardening, read, napped, cooked, ate and just generally caught up with ourselves & each other.
I didn't get as much crafty stuff done as I'd planned (still 10 butterflies to go on my Row 2 of Lori's Row Along) but I did manage to finally finish the pretty Star Garland that I started way back here :-)
As a beginner crocheter, I have to confessed to being quite chuffed with how it turned out. The little stars were easy to make, and I am now quite addicted. (I have actually already started on another one... a gift for a friend).
Not quite sure yet where it's going to live - here it is in one of the guest rooms . . .
. . . although it would look pretty in my craft room too. . . Hmmm. . . (she ponders)
Hope you're having a lovely Monday,
xoxo

ReplyDeleteThanks :-) Not sure I can post a tutorial as it's not my original work.. don't want to breach any copyright stuff. But the pattern is from Issue 17 of Mollie Makes which you can download or back order at http://molliemakes.themakingspot.com/node/404

That garland is lovely! You've chosen such happy colours....I really need to learn to crochet, as I do love granny squares and all the different types of crocheted bunting I see around.
ReplyDeleteI'd put this garland in your craft room....make another one for the guests :D
xo
Thanks for your sweet comment - yes I've decided this one is going in the craft room after all ! I haven't quite completely mastered grannies yet - mine tend to be a bit squiff, but it's so much fun. Definitely put it on your "Skills to be mastered" list ;-)

When you've finished your friends garland you may have to make another for yourself..then you can have one in the spare room and one in the craft room 'cos they look amazing!
ReplyDeleteGood idea indeed! I can see us having garlands in every room at this rate.. tee hee ;-)

I love the garland Gilly it looks really effective. I've only done a little basic crochet but would love to give that a go. xxxxxx Melanie
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely give it a go - it perhaps looks more complicated than it is, and believe me my crochet skills are still basic too. So, GO FOR IT!

Oh that's lovely! Very fun. I've only been crocheting a year myself, but I am becoming quite a fan. Knitting has kind of gone by the wayside for me since I discovered crochet.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite addictive, isn't it? My knitting has fallen by the wayside too...must finish some socks I started last winter!! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello, hope you'll pop over again sometime. I'm off over to have a wee peek at your blog now :-)
