All things Jubilicious. . .

It's Monday afternoon, our weekend guests have all departed . . . and finally, the sun has appeared.
Better late than never.

We've enjoyed a really lovely weekend of Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and the good news is that there's still another holiday tomorrow too - YAY.

Whilst the boys were at a Puzzle Gathering (the hubby's hobby is mechanical puzzles) in Warwick for the day, we girls took ourselves off to the nearby village of Chaddesley Corbett for lunch then headed home again to bake and prepare and deck the halls with all things jubilicious (isn't that a lovely word? Sounds to me like something yummy to the taste, don't you think?)

My sister baked this Union Jack flag cake and it was truly jubilicious - a Victoria sponge with a hint of lemon drizzle, covered in buttercream icing and topped with raspberries and blueberries. Pure yummy-ness on a plate.

Even the pups dressed for the occasion . . .

The rain let up on Saturday evening and stayed away just long enough for us to hang more bunting on the deck, cook dinner on the barbecue and eat al fresco, before the heavens opened again.
All in all, a really good day.

Yesterday we grabbed our umbrellas and headed to our local Pub for a traditional Sunday roast lunch and then whiled away the afternoon watching the BBC coverage of the Pageant on the Thames in London.  Wow - what a spectacular display.  The Queen really does know how to throw a party.

The Jubilee Concert from Buckingham Palace starts on telly shortly, so I'm off to make a cuppa and curl up on the sofa for the evening.  If you're watching it too - enjoy. . .
