. . . pretty busy this past week.
So here's a wee peek at just some of what I've been up to:
- delving into my stash and piecing together a new quilt
It's a mish-mash of fabrics, but mainly Riley Blake's Bake Sale - designed by lovely Lori Holt from Bee in My Bonnet. It's to throw over the chaise in the kitchen on which the two most-adorable-pups-in-the-world like to lie whilst overseeing things in the kitchen and keeping an eye out the window in case the neighbour's cat dares set paws in our garden. Our kitchen is a pretty neutral colour, so this will brighten things up.
- finally finishing my Juliet dress
It's actually a much darker purple than it appears in this pic, and it fits just perfectly so I'm quite chuffed.
Ooh, and just by the by, it matches perfectly with our pretty hanging baskets . . .
; - )
- sewing 150 little puzzle bags (as commissioned by the Hubby)
Chain-sewing was definitely the way to go - it seemed to speed up the process considerably.
So that's them all done . . . and another thing ticked off my list.
- admiring my latest acquisition of gorgeous Art Gallery fabrics . . . and trying to decide what to make next. What do you think ?
Any and all suggestions/ideas will be considered so go ahead . . .suggest away !
These are both from the new Emmy Grace collection - aren't they yummy ? And just perfect for autumn. Not that I'm wishing summer away . . .
just saying . . .
Happy new week ahead,
'til next time
xoxo
Wow your machine must have been smoking. All gorgeous makes. The figs are so beautiful I can see they need a very beautiful quilt! Do you add wadding?
ReplyDeleteCan I also be nosey enough to ask what the bags are for?
Thank for sharing such great pictures.
I am intrigued by the bags too and totally agree with Linda your machine must have been smoking! Some delightful projects the finished dress is stunning and loving the colour combination of the quilt top.

Wowwww so pretty.....lovel summer enjoy love Ria...x
ReplyDeleteWell done on those bags - I love crossing things off lists. I think that dress is simply divine. I love purple and that looks such a rich colour, always a bonus when it is a good fit. I am making a blouse in a silky fabric that will not stay put under the machine and I have cast on a few more projects. You know me... lots on the go. Jo x
ReplyDeleteThe dress is very glam! The turquoise fabric would make an amazing skirt... xx
ReplyDeleteThe dress is fab, Gilly - as is everything else. I love the fishing lady fabric. It would make a fab skirt! :o)
ReplyDeleteLots happening at your place Gilly. I love your dress. I really should try making myself a new dress. Maybe one day! I bet you're glad you've finished all those little bags! Hugs, Christine

What a big load of goodies today Gill: love your quilt top and I'm sure your furry friends will too, and that dress is wonderful - such a beautifully rich colour, you'll look gorgeous in it. Gosh, you have done well to sew up all those bags - did you not become just a teeny weeny bit bored with the sameness? Congratulations on getting that job ticked off!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all your sweet new fabrics and am thinking another quilt might be on the go but then, there could be several projects coming up depending on how much you have of each fabric - summer bags, cushions; with your imagination and talent the sky's the limit methinks :) Have yourself an exciting week, xoJoy
PS Gilly, you might like to pop over and see what I've done with your lovely London fabric xo
DeleteI love the quilt! But then I scrolled down and saw the dress. It's sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteArt Gallery fabrics are one of my favorites. They are soft to the touch and sew up beautifully. I never want to cut them!!
There is something so satisfying about making a quilt from our scrap bins. Very sweet
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt top! So very pretty and such summery and springy colours. You have been so very busy with making the puzzle bags!! You must be dreaming of them at night. Hope that you decide what to make with the new fabrics in the last picture, as I look forward to seeing them again as they are so pretty!! xx
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt Gilly and that dress is absolutley gorgeous. You allways turn out such lovely work xxx
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the fabric for the dress, it seems to drape so well?
ReplyDeleteDear Gilly
ReplyDeleteFantastic projects - many congratulations!
Best wishes
Ellie
Looks like you have been very busy, love the look of your new dress.
ReplyDeleteYou're always so busy these days! But the things you create are soooooOOoo nice :) Love that cute dress, are you going to pop a purple petunia in your hair when you wear it? The 2-MAPITW seem to be looking longingly at that quilt. So pretty for the kitchen. I wish I had a little spot for a comfy chair and a quilt right in the kitchen because it's nice and bright in there ... one day! Enjoy your week Gilly, Wendy x
ReplyDeleteHi Gilly: I love your happy, scrappy quilt and the dress is divine! You have so may projects going at one time...how do you do it?!
ReplyDeleteLove your beautiful quilt top and dress!! So pretty!! Wishing you a crafty week Gilly! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteWow, so many pretty things in this post Gilly! The blanket is beautiful - I have a layer cake of that fabric line, I'm tempted by that brick-style of patchwork to make a kitchen-themed table runner, basically a smaller version of your quilt! :-) The dress is simply perfect, totally my style and now I want one, too! You've been a very busy bee of late, your sewing machine is getting a good workout! Chrissie xxx
ReplyDeleteWow! You have been busy Gilly! but of the best sorts of busy... I love that dress, it's just sooo pretty! And your quilt, fab! So summery! Hazel x
