I made another one . . .

Our house is still in a state of topsy-turvy whilst the painters continue with their decorating, so my little craft room is still full to the brim with stuff from the kitchen & utility room.  Which means I'm not getting the opportunity to do much in the way of sewing right now.
But before the house was turned into a tip -  I made another Kate dress **

This pattern is seriously addictive because it's so quick and simple to make.  And I just love the Vintage Happy range of fabrics from the lovely Lori Holt  too.

This time I made the 3/4 sleeved version and once again I used the pretty navy cotton lace trim on the pockets and the sleeves.
And then I added a navy lace zip to the back seam too.

The zip serves no purpose except to look pretty, and I think it does its job well.

So that's two versions of Kate now hanging side by side in my summer wardrobe . . .

. . . watch this space, I'm sure no.3 will be along soon.  Just as soon as I'm allowed back into my little craft space . . .

'til next time, have a happy weekend
xoxo

** in case you missed it, have a wee peek at Kate dress no.1 here

  1. Gilly that is gorgeous! It reminds me of dresses my sister and I wore when we were little.. we had matching knickers underneath too! I remember keeping treasures in the deep pockets! I must look up the pattern... I have loads of fabric to play with... Hazel x

  12. Hi Gilly, not sure if you managed to see my comment on your painted furniture the other day, but I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to tell me please, what the brand name and shade is of the paint you used? I'm having trouble finding a suitable paint for my outdoor table and chairs and yours is just what I have in mind colourwise!
    Thank you

  18. Ah your dress is so lovely Gilly and you always manage to choose such gorgeous fabrics - I'm hanging out to get my hands on the pattern, the post is so so slow from there to here - and you're going to be so happy to get back into your craft room when all the work around the place is done .. .. it just takes a bit of time doesn't it, but well worth it! Have a great weekend, love, Joy xo

    1. PS The postie delivered my package yesterday, Gilly, right on my birthday - so how's that for good timing - all adding to the excitement of the day! Thank you so much for the pattern and especially the lovely extras you included - what lovely surprises and I truly appreciate them so much, you are so very thoughtful and kind! I still haven't seen those gorgeous zips locally yet - how pretty they are. The next fabric I buy will be for a Kate dress/top and I'm so looking forward to getting stuck into it. The pattern is so beautifully packaged and presented - very impressive! Your card is so sweet too - how spoiled am I! I have just put up a post that you may like to check out!
Take good care of yourself and have a wonderful week! With love and thanks, Joy xo

  21. Very cute, Gilly! I think you are so clever to make each uniquely but from the same pattern. I am having a late mid-life crisis of sorts and am collecting long empire waist jumpers to wear over slacks as my "new" style :) xx

  29. Lovely Gilly this is the pattern I have been searching for and I just love what you have done with it. I particularly love the zip, saw these a little while ago and was so taken with them but your idea of putting them on your dress is pure genius. I must get my hands on this pattern quickly! As always Gilly a fabulous post and I hope the decorating is done soon so you can get back to your sewing. Gilly sorry I have not popped over to see you so much lately, hopefully work will be a little quieter for a while and I can come and visit you every post. Have a wonderful weekend Gilly, big hugs, Dorothyxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
