Owl always love you . . .

(with apologies to Dolly & Whitney, both of whom sang it beautifully)

After the snowy disruption of the past 2 weeks, normal scheduling was due to re-commence this week - in my mind anyway - yet somehow things got turned topsy-turvy once more and here we are at Thursday again already.

This week, it was nothing to do with the weather, and all to do with our two furry babes.
The good news is that the Ben-dog's sprained elbow has healed well and she is almost back to her usual bouncy self.  But the bad news is that we've spent the past few days shuttling the Jerry-dog backwards & forwards to the vet whilst they do all possible to avoid having to operate & remove the "as-yet-unidentifiable-on-the-x-ray" object that she has ingested.  Sigh . . . Labs will be Labs - everything is fair game in their world . . . Sniff then eat, seems to be the default rule of thumb.

So, whilst I've been fretting over the poorly pup, a little distraction in the form of creating was called for.

Meet Olivia Owl - ain't she sweet?

She took a lot longer to create than I had anticipated, but I am very chuffed with how she's turned out.
Olivia Owl is a gift for a special little girl who's coming to visit in a few weeks time, and I'm hoping to make another one for her brother too
 . . . in more "boy colours", naturally ; - )
Now that I've got the template cut out and the methodology sussed, hopefully the next one won't take quite as long.

And I'm busy-ing away making & putting together the goodies for All4MeggyMoo's I Love Hearts swap. I can't show them to you yet, but here's a behind-the-scenes sneaky peek:

Hope you're having a happy crafting week,

xoxo

  1. Your owl is gorgeous, very girls I can't wait to see the boy version! Labs are notorious for eating anything and everything aren't they!

  2. Glad to read that Ben is on the mend, but oh dear, poor Jerry. I do hope the USO (Unidentified Swallowed Object) decides to break up and ship out on its own!

Olivia looks a much safer bet for avoiding vet bills, and eyelash flutteringly bootiful to boot ;)

  6. It's not just labs - many years ago we had a spaniel who ate anything and everything. One day she got hold of my pincushion, which meant a dash to the vet, where they fed her cotton wool sandwiches. Fortunnately she hadn't swallowed any pins!
I love the owl - we have all sorts of owls about the house.
