It's a snow day . . . for me & the pups, anyway : - )
Perhaps it's my [mostly hot & sunny] African upbringing, but I am always so delighted when it snows.
[Except for that one time when I got caught in an awful snowstorm and it took me over four hours to do the 30 minute journey home. That wasn't at all delightful.]
Anyway, I digress - so, back to today . . .
The Hubby's sporty car goes nowhere in the snow, so he's headed off to work in my [decidedly] more practical one, which leaves me, very contentedly I might add, at home for the day. YAY . . .
What's a gal to do ?
First up, wrap up warm & head out into the garden with camera and the two most-adorable-pups-in-the-world to snap some pics . . .
. . . and play a game of tug.
Oh, and last night I finished up Row 9 for Lori's Bee in my Bonnet Row-Along, so in the spirit of the day, it too had to come outside and have its picture taken.
Don't look too closely at it though, as I have to confess to one or two three teeny wee mistakes. It comes from not concentrating properly and then justifying it to myself by thinking they will add a certain uniqueness to my quilt. [Ok, admit it - you just looked closely, didn't you? Did you spot the "uniqueness" secretly hidden in the stars?]
Next up is the housework [Mondays being my usual chores day] and then I'm planning to start a new quilt. Whatever you're up to today, be it sunny or snowy - have a happy Monday.
xoxo
Your pictures are beautiful. The snow is so pretty isnt it? Your row along is so cute. I need to get myself caught up. I always enjoy seeing yours. You choose the cutest fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThanks Trish :-)

Very pretty. Like you I love the snow when not having to drive in it.
ReplyDeleteToo true! The prettiness does kind of wear off when it all turns to slush & ice and one has to go out in it.
DeleteTake care,
xx
oh wow, you really do have snow! I wonder which part of the country you are in. Have a lovely cosy day! Heather x
ReplyDeleteThis afternoon we've got blue skies and sunshine again! I'm in Worcestershire, in the west midlands... apparently the snow is heading east!

Oh my, I live in Norway, and we have no snow at all. But it is cold, though. I spotted what you did. I even did the same with my first row, all of them. Just turned them around. You find them on my blog. The other one I got right.
ReplyDeleteLove your two rows too - I had a look at them on Flickr. Going to look so fabulous when they're all put together - can't wait!

Pretty snow pictures Gilly! I love snow days too! There's just something about them! :) Your quilt row is so pretty too! It has a lovely touch out in the snow! :) Happy new week! xo Holly

We woke up to snow falling this morning and it hasn't stopped all morning. Your snowy pictures are great. Love the row quilt too.
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy - thanks for popping in and saying hello :-)
DeleteMore snow forecast for later in the week, but right now it's turning to ice & slush, so the novelty is wearing off!
Happy Wednesday,
xx
Your Row Along colors are amazing! I just love them. I had the same "uniqueness" in my Row..hehehe. You pups are so adorable! I love the snow pics you took! Snow isn't my favorite because we always have ice with ours. Well, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteCheery wave!
Bev
Phew - I'm glad I'm not the only one with the uniqueness!
DeleteSeems quite a few of us have done the same :-)
It's pretty icy here now too, I agree, it can get quite treacherous.
Happy sewing today,
xx
Gilly, we are not supposed to be having snow in Portland, OR, according to the weather forecasters, but it is snowing none-the-less : ) However, while you have an accumulation to play in, so far we don't. I am excited to finally get your blog properly plugged into my blog roll so that I can regularly read your posts and get to know you better. I am admiring your quilt row and think it is beautiful. xx, Gracie
ReplyDeleteHi Gracie - thanks for your sweet comment :-) Look forward to following all your adventures too,
Deletehappy Wednesday
xx
Oh I love your snowy pictures Gilly ... the pooches look like they're having great fun ... and I love the personality of your unique quilt ... I wouldn't change it either :) ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Bee - and thanks for the encouraging support re the quilt! ;-)

I'm glad you got to stay home and enjoy the snow looks like the puppy's had fun.
ReplyDeleteThe snow is beautiful! It seems strange to think of cold weather as it is horribly hot here today!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the snow while it lasts! xx
It is pretty, but I must admit I'd chose horribly hot over icy cold any day! But I know how you feel - those days when it's just too, too hot and saps all your energy. Stay cool!

I could so use a snow day!!! All we are getting is rain! Lovely photos and darling pups! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Koralee - hope your rain turns to snow soon!

Oh my you had so much more snow in your part of the county!!! Love the photos!! xx
ReplyDeleteHi there, thanks for popping in - are you in Worcs too? We're at the top of a hill (the Lickeys) so we seem to have our own little micro climate up here!
DeleteAll turning icy now, but more snow forecast for the weekend :-)
xx
I love home days....there is always so much to do, creating...cleaning....reading....photography...
ReplyDeleteYour outdoor photos are stunning. I love the glowing warm light in the first picture.
Brilliant.
ciao bella

Ciao Carmelina - thanks for popping in and saying hello too :-)
DeleteThat pic was taken so early in the morning, but I like how it turned out too.
Home days are indeed fab!
Happy Wednesday,
xx
Your pictures are wonderful! Such a snowy dreamy sight. I found row 9 to be quite challenging and I won't be showing a close up either. Thank goodness I've been quilting long enough to know some tricks to hide the bad ones when we sew it all together. Love your color choices!
ReplyDeleteThanks Renee - glad to hear I wasn't the only one! I do think it's going to be a challenge getting mine all to line up once we put it together - I may need to tap into some of your experience!
DeleteHave a happy day,
xx
I loved your gorgeous snowy pictures! Your starry row looks very pretty too with its snowy backdrop. Litle mistakes are fine, they give a quilt some character :)
ReplyDeleteHave a happy week and keep cosy!

It looks so beautiful where you are!
ReplyDeleteSnow has this magical way of covering everything that's both pretty and ugly alike and making it beautiful.
Hope you are wrapping up warm and staying safe in the new year!
All the best :) x
For one awful moment there I thought the dogs had the patchwork!
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect in the snowy garden, what a great backdrop for a make :D
