Rule Britannia . . .

Finally, a day without rain (so far anyway!), so this morning I took advantage of the sunshine and managed to make a substantial dent in the weeding.  I love that all this rain we've been having is making everything so green and pretty in the garden, but unfortunately it encourages the weeds too :-(

So, with the weeding ticked off my "To Do" list for the day,  I could happily indulge in some sewing this afternoon. Yay !
The pretty Cabbages & Roses jellyroll quilt is coming along nicely and I do plan to get the border done by the end of the weekend, but in the meantime I've also been busy with another "scrappy" project.

A wee while ago I made this quilt for a special little friend (to match his newly redecorated bedroom). It was only the second ever quilt that I'd made, so whilst it's a very simple design, I was really pleased with how it turned out.

Anyway, the point is that I had lots of little bits of fabric left over so in my quest to use up all my scraps
and seeing as it's Diamond Jubilee year and the London Olympics are just around the corner, I'm making a patriotic "Rule Britannia" picnic blanket.

Again, it's a simple design with 6" squares, but I just love the red, white and blue combination of colours and patterns.

Just the binding to make and it's ready to quilt.
And then we just need the sun to come out and Summer to arrive so we can have a picnic !

Have a happy weekend,
xoxo
