On Saturday the hubby was out all day at a Puzzling thing (his interest lies in all-things-puzzles - of the mechanical variety, not jigsaws) so after an early morning call to my sis, she decided to hop in the car and head north for a visit. Yay! We had a lovely girlie day... some shopping (of course... it's what we do best), a walk in the woods with the two most-adorable-pups-in-the-world, and then a spot of yummy baking.
We paged through one of my fairly newly-acquired recipe books (Baking Made Easy by Lorraine Pascale) and decided that breadsticks would be a perfect accompaniment to dinner.
SO
we measured
we sifted
we kneaded (well, actually the dough hook on the electric mixer did most of the hard work...)
we weighed
we rolled
..and rolled some more...
..and then we left the baking trays on top of the radiator (well, the recipe does call for the dough to be left to rise in a warm place!)
and went shopping again... (did I mention, it's what we do best?)
On our return, the breadsticks had risen sufficiently for them to be decorated
Sea salt, cracked black pepper, parmesan, pumpkin seeds and rosemary |
and popped in the oven.
Et voila, truly scrumptious breadsticks...
... and we were chuffed!
