Knitting a Daisy Duke . . .

A little while ago, some lovely Jesse cotton yarn from Louisa Harding caught my eye, so - as one does - I duly bought the yarn and the pattern book to match, and stashed it away, determined not to start yet another new knitty project before I'd finished the previous one.

Fast forward a month or so, and I hauled it out again thinking it'd be the perfect project to keep me occupied on our road trip north to Scotland for Christmas.
And it was.
I pretty much knitted all the way there, and all the way back, and a wee bit in between as well.

It's just a simple little cotton top knitted in a lovely lacy stitch.  The front and back are identical so once you've got used to the pattern, it's pretty straightforward.  And the pattern is very clear and well laid out row-by-row, so if you can operate a row counter, you're all set ; - )

I like the little scalloped edge effect too.

And whilst we're talking all things knitty - I received this lovely book as a gift at Christmas . . .

It's been on my wish list for a wee while and it's filled with a myriad of knitty seasonal patterns
- 52 in all.  Wouldn't it be lovely to have the time to knit a project a week for a whole year ?
One can but dream . . .
But I am loving the wavy striped scarf on the cover so that's definitely going on my list.

Linking up with Ginny and the Yarn Along over at Small Things today - do pop over and have a peek at what other knitty folk are up to.

Wishing you the happiest of weeks, and thinking of our bloggy friends who're enduring the freezing temps and seemingly endless storms that are currently battering around.  Stay safe & warm,
'til next time
xoxo

  5. Oh, pretty! I want to knit something light for summer (we live in hope) as most of my knitted things are cold-weather wear. As I am drowning under unfinished projects at the moment I better get something finished before I start yet another new thing though ;)

  6. Gorgeous top and I love the colour yarn you have chosen. I can't knit whilst travelling it makes me car sick! I'm ashamed to say I have had that book for about 18 months now and still haven't made anything from it! I'm looking forward to seeing what you make from it to inspire me! Julie x

  7. I have the book, and did make a start to working my way through it week by week ....... but I got a bit fed up about half way through and gave up! However, I did knit the scarf on the cover - although for some reason I have never worn it, it is draped round the mannequin in my studio!
Your top is lovely, I could be tempted to add it to my ever-lengthening to-knit list!!

I'm making "a square a week":: but i'm doing two a week, so I have more for a throw blanket! Your knitted top will be very pretty! The yarn looks lovely! I wish I could do a project a week! That would be crazy! :) Wishing you a wonderful and yarny day!! :) xo Holly

  17. This is a beautiful little top and so neatly knitted. I'm sure you'll love wearing it.

I love the idea of having the time to plan out and do a project a week but life seems to get in the way doesn't it. I've been making and blogging while I've had down time due to my knee probs but my making will be much more sporadic once I return full time to work. Roll on retirement if the government don't move my pension till after I die!
